Since Mount Marty University’s literary journal Paddlefish’s inception in 2007, the English
department, Dr. Marc Long, Dr. Bill Miller, Dr. Kathy Magorian and the Marketing Department have continued to brainstorm new avenues for student publications. We are growing here at the Mount and we have even more stories to tell. We are excited to announce treble hook, which is MMU’s new publishing platform.

treble hook is an online publishing platform that showcases student writing, photography and video. treble hook will feature stories developed and written by Mount Marty University students, staff, faculty, alumni and even guests to the campus. From concept to publication, students working for treble hook will develop pieces that will fit into Mount Marty University’s four pillars: Awareness of God, Community, Hospitality and Life Long Learning.

treble hook will provide students with assignments and work that will strengthen their writing abilities, build their publishing credentials and provide them with experience to enter the world of work with confidence. Students will gain an understanding of how content is developed and delivered to various platforms and how it can be used as feature stories, student produced social media and/or public relations material for the university. Mount Marty University students will develop content and copyediting skills while working with the faculty advisor(s).

The goal is that treble hook provide MMU students with hands-on, real world work in writing and publishing and that students gain insight into the ever-changing arena of journalism, marketing and public relations.
