Human Patient Simulator
Mount Marty is extremely fortunate to possess a Human Patient Simulator (HPS), better known as "Marty." The simulator is life-size and is able to simulate real-life physiologic and pathophysiologic processes. This allows students to experience realistic and rarely seen clinical events within the safety of a laboratory environment. Below are just a few examples of the clinical scenarios available via simulation:
• Routine anesthesia inductions
• Laryngospasm on emergence
• Bradycardia and hypotension
• Difficult airway management
• OB amniotic fluid embolus
• Malignant hyperthermia
• Anaphylaxis
• ACLS algorithms
