Academic Merit Scholarships
All incoming first-year students who will be enrolled full-time at the Yankton campus and meet minimum qualifications are eligible to receive a minimum amount of Mount Marty scholarships and gift aid. Check out our Scholarship Explorer to make sure you know about all available scholarships!
Mount Marty University awards yearly merit scholarship amounts based solely on a student's GPA. If accepted to Mount Marty, you could receive one of three following awards, based on your overall academic history:
- $18,000 | 3.7 - 4.0 GPA
- $15,000 | 3.2 - 3.69 GPA
- $13,000 | Less than a 3.2 GPA

These academic merit scholarships are renewed each year as long as you remain a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours per semester) in good academic standing.

You are more than your grades, and Mount Marty awards scholarships that celebrate your passions and experiences. You can apply for the scholarships below to receive additional support.
Amount: Variable
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus traditional student or transfer who will participate in intercollegiate athletics.
Application: Apply for admission and receive a recommendation from a Mount Marty coach.
Amount: Variable
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus student or a transfer who is interested in participating in art, band, theatre or choir.
Application: Apply for admission and indicate an interest on your application. You can share your interest with your enrollment counselor, who will put you in touch with professors and other students in your area of interest. Fill out the Fine Arts recruiting form here!
Amount: $1,000 per year
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus students with a parent or grandparent holding a Mount Marty undergraduate or graduate degree, or who currently have a sibling enrolled at Mount Marty University.
Application: Apply for admission. Student must indicate family member on their application.
Amount: $18,000, cannot be combined with merit scholarships.
Eligibility: Students that have been a mentee in the TeamMates program for a minimum of 2 years.
Application: Apply for admission by January 1 and complete the FAFSA.

Mount Marty University presents the Sister Veronica Fasbender Biology Scholarship, named after one of the University's excellent biology professors who also lived next door at Sacred Heart Monastery. A botanist by training, Sister Fasbender had a deep appreciation for the natural world and enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.
This scholarship is $30,000 per year. The immersive visit program at Mount Marty's main campus in Yankton, South Dakota includes the following:
- Interview with faculty from the Biology Department
- Faculty-guided tour of the Avera Science & Nursing Center
- Sitting in on a class taught by Biology faculty
- Meeting with Admission Office representative
- If you select a morning time, we will treat you to a complimentary lunch for you and your guests in the Mount Marty Dining Hall. If you select an afternoon time, we will treat you and your guests to coffee and a snack in Benny's Cafe.
To be eligible for this prestigious interview process, you must have at least a 3.7 high-school or college GPA and plan on majoring in biology or a related pre-professional area at Mount Marty University beginning in fall 2025. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other Mount Marty scholarships, and students planning to participate in athletics at Mount Marty are not eligible.
If you complete the visit and are not selected to receive this scholarship, you will automatically receive a $3,000 per-year Scholastica Interview scholarship, which can be added to your merit scholarship and other Mount Marty awards. Apply here.
Mount Marty University presents the Sister Mary Arthur Schramm Nursing Scholarship, a $30,000 per year award meant for high school or college students looking to study nursing and eventually enroll in the university's highly selective nurse anesthesia practice doctoral program. Sister Mary Arthur Schramm is an excellent retired nursing faculty member who was involved in developing nurse anesthesia as an academic discipline. Interview with Mount Marty nursing faculty to be considered! Register for an interview below. This immersive program will include:
- Interview with faculty from the Nursing Department
- Faculty-guided tour of the Avera Science & Nursing Center
- Sitting in on a nursing class
- Meeting with Admission Office representative
- Complimentary lunch for you and your guests in the Mount Marty Dining Hall
This scholarship cannot be combined with any other Mount Marty scholarships, and students planning to participate in athletics at Mount Marty are not eligible.
